My Favorite Things About Teaching...

Welcome to my blog! I am so excited to share all things teaching on this blog. I know many people say that your blog should be super specific, but that doesn't really fit my personality. I'm kinda a talker. Actually, a bit of a rambler... but that is how I get to my creative self. That is how I figure things out. So if your up for all things teaching then this is the blog for you! I hope this will be a place to share best practice with one another, thoughts and feelings on what is trending in education, great ideas, inspiring stories, and the list goes on. So I hope you have found a pretty place to call your teaching home. I know your stories and thoughts are what inspire me. So I hope to hear back from as many readers who feel the desire to share!

First, I would like to share some of my very favorite things about teaching. The first one being the most obvious to me...

I love the energy they bring to each day. I love how so many of them are like little sponges just waiting to absorb all the learning they can. I love how they look to you for love, safety, and knowledge. I love seeing the faces of children light up when they finally grasp a difficult concept. I love how they think we are the funniest people they know (even when we aren't). I love how they make you feel like a real-life celebrity when you see them outside of school. I just love them!

Along with the kids comes some other favorites. So here goes...

Learning by doing, observing, and getting your hands dirty is what passion feels like!

I completely believe that kids need to be kids. Watching my students play outside gives me valuable information about how they interact, how they think, and how they learn. This is also a very special time for me to build rapport.

Some of my very favorite teachers all in the same room with the legendary Deanna Jump! Sadly, I missed this! But there is always next year...

I am blessed and grateful for a grant I received 3 years ago that gave me a class set of iPads. This is just one small way in which I integrate technology! I am an Apple lover!

So this is the beginning of a new adventure for me... blogging! So stay tuned to see how that journey unfolds.

  2. Some of my "favorites" are in these photos, too... and now they have my favorite teacher. I think this is a really hard time for educators. Thank goodness for sweet children who inspire our daily work. (And yes... you MUST be in the Vegas shot next year!)
